I have been working in Private Practice since 2003. Prior to this I have worked for, and alongside community agencies in Christchurch. I have experience working with children, young people (their families) and adults who have experienced sexual abuse, anxiety disorders, family conflict, depression, parenting concerns, loss and grief.
My research for my Masters Degree (Psychology) was carried out on self-esteem and relationships, an area I continue to be interested in and pay attention to in my ongoing work with clients. I am committed to and passionate about working from a family systems' perspective to support children and their families.
I also have a Master of Health Practice in Advanced Psychotherapy Practice, which includes a qualification in Clinical Supervision.

I currently work in the field of Special Education as an Advisor and as a Counsellor and Professional Supervisor in the Harakeke Centre. My current clients are specialist educational staff and teachers, RTLB's, social workers, youth workers, mental health workers, staff working in the field of the elderly and confused as well as those supporting people affected by grief, loss and change. I also offer academic supervision to students studying for their Diploma in Counselling.
I have extensive training and work experience as a teacher, counsellor, behaviour management specialist, careers consultant, motivational interviewer, teenage parent educator and family support worker.
I offer my counselling and supervision clients a person-centred, solutions-focused approach: - being attentive, showing kindness, encouraging hope and celebrating the moments of joy these are my gifts to my clients.

I have been working with youth and adults in the field of nursing for the last 20 years predominately in the specialty area of sexual health and sexuality, and adolescent mental health since 2003. I have trained in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and see youth, adults, couples and families who want to increase their understanding of themselves and their relationships with others in the hope of living differently. Life problems may include sexual issues, anxiety, depression, loss and grief, eating problems, relationship issues, difficulties with feelings, ways of coping that have become troublesome. I also provide supervision to nurses and other health professionals.

I began my training in Child Mental Health and Psychotherapy in 1999, gaining my Masters in Child Psychotherapy in 2008 following starting a family and working as a Guidance Counsellor in a local Secondary School. Personally, I am Maori (Ngati Mutunga) and Pakeha/European heritage though have worked with individuals and families from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. I have experience working with children, adolescents and their parents / whanau who have had encounters with attachment issues; behavioural issues; mental health issues, e.g. depression, anxiety; child sexual and physical abuse; and grief and loss.

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist working in private practice and in public services. I have 15 years experience working with children and their families in mental health, charitable and private settings in New Zealand and the UK. I have experience as a clinical manager and supervisor and have worked with families affected by parental substance use. My clinical experience includes work with a wide range of clinical presentations in children and adolescents, including depression, anxiety, developmental issues, attachment and family relationship issues, trauma and loss. I am a child psychologist with over 12 years experience in working with infants and young children and their families. I combine private practice with working as a psychologist at the Ministry of Education specialising in Early Intervention for children with Special Needs. My clinical practice includes working with a wide range of children including children with attachment disorders, anxiety disorders, severe problem behaviour and developmental delay. I also work with children on the autistic spectrum and a range of other syndromes. I offer psychometric assessments and tailored intervention programmes for individual children as well as providing advice and strategies for parents to implement in their homes. If required I also carry out observations in pre-schools and schools and can liaise with teachers and pre-school staff around the needs of the child.
I supervise 5th year University of Canterbury Child & Family psychology students and intern psychologists in my role at Ministry of Education and also provide private supervision for psychologists working with children. I also carry out assessments for a number of research studies at the Christchurch School of Medicine.
